Back to School

Beginning school or going back to school is an important time for our children’s feet. A child’s foot grows in length and width and will change in shape with such growth. Due to this often-rapid growth, frequent changes in the size of shoes and socks are necessary. If you are unsure of how your child’s shoe is fitting them you should consult your podiatrist for professional advice.

Fitness Health

It is not unusual, unfortunately, to get involved in a new sport or exercise and all of a sudden you develop a pain in your foot or leg. For example, pain found just behind and above your heel at the beginning and end of a training session is often associated with a condition called Achilles Tendinopathy. It is well known that individuals who seek early advice with this condition may have the best outcomes. Initial conservative management by your podiatrist is directed towards relieving symptoms and managing the causes, which may include addressing incorrect footwear, poor flexibility, and leg length difference.

Common Foot Problems

Heel pain is one of the most common issues treated by podiatrists.

Typically, patients will complain of pain with their initial steps after a period of inactivity or rest such as upon rising from bed in the morning. The pain may also become worse following prolonged weight bearing or standing. It is also not unusual for patients to develop heel pain triggered by a recent increase in weight-bearing activity or exercise.

Our podiatrists understand the mechanics of the foot and are trained to conduct an appropriate physical examination to determine the true cause of the heel pain and what interventions should be initiated to decrease pain and improve function.
